Bursaries

Registration bursaries

The Association has a limited number of bursaries for postgraduate doctoral and postdoctoral students without paid posts under 35 years (on 1. September 2010). The bursaries cover the full registration costs of the conference of students whose papers have been accepted for sessions, but all other costs (e.g. travel, accommodation) must be paid by the applicant. For a limited number of Travel Bursaries see below under Travel Bursaries.

Procedure for applications:
Download the file below and complete the application form and send it by POST, to arrive as soon as possible, to Prof. Clark A copy of the letter of acceptance from the session or the roundtable organiser must also be mailed, together with a letter of support from your supervisor. Applications should be in English or French and sent by post to the address below. Email applications will not be accepted. Please ensure you give your current email address.

Competition in recent years for bursaries has been heavy. Please apply early. The first closing date for applications is 28th February 2010. The main allocation of bursaries will be made in March 2010. Funding permitting, there will be a second allocation of a smaller number of grants at the start of June 2010. For this round the closing date is 31st May 2010. Please ensure all your papers are submitted to arrive by the first or second deadline, otherwise your application will be excluded.

Travel bursaries

THE EAUH will award for the Gent conference up to 5 Travel Bursaries to cover travel and accommodation costs for the conference to the maximum of 250 euros per grant for postgraduate students from less advantaged European countries (see eligible countries below). The grant will be paid after the conference by the conference organiser on the presentation of travel and accommodation receipts. Travel bursaries will only be awarded to successful applicants for Registration Bursaries.

Applications must be made with all papers arriving by 28th February 2010. The allocation of awards will be made in March 2010.

Applicants must be natives or permanently resident in one of the following countries: Albania, Baltic states, ex-Jugoslavia states, Poland, Hungary, Roumania, Bulgaria, Greece, Czech republic, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey.

Procedure for applications:

Send the same documentation by POST as for Registration Bursaries.
PLUS
1. A budget of your expected travel and accommodation costs for the Gent conference.
2. A piece of your written work –typed or printed- related to your thesis/current research in English or French. The work should be at least 8 pages long but no more than 20 pages. This must be certified as your work by your supervisor. The work will not be returned.
